"There are lots of different parts and processes in a factory that can break down or malfunction. I’ll then sit down with a mechanic to see whether we have to combat the symptoms or draw up an improvement plan to prevent the problem from recurring.”
“I also advise factories on how they can improve their product quality. Customers will sometimes complain that their chips are discolored, or we might notice ourselves. You can prevent discoloration by optimizing the cooking process. All you have to do is perform a simple test to gain insight in the best cooking conditions.
Once a week, I get to test new Aviko products as a member of the Crunch Team. Together will several colleagues, I’ll test our products blind, paying attention to things like colour, smell, texture and crunchiness. Everyone will sit a long table with a tablet, a glass of water, crackers and, of course, the new products. Before you’re allowed to join the team, you have to pass a test to see if your sense of smell and taste and your assessment skills are up to par.”
